MIREI

For over fifteen years, she has devoted herself to the art of Japanese calligraphy and is currently based in Tokyo.

She studied under a calligrapher whose master was invited by the Emperor of Japan, grounding her practice in the traditions of Japanese calligraphy.

Her artistic theme is “Calligraphy that invites you to return to it, time and again.”

Her work goes beyond the meaning of written characters, seeking to awaken memories, emotions, and personal stories within each viewer"a familiar landscape, someone dear, or a moment from their life.

The same work may evoke something different depending on who sees it and when they encounter it.

Beyond words and cultural boundaries, she seeks to create a quiet dialogue between the artwork and the viewer.
