My main focus is to pass on the beauty that Japanese ancestors cultivated to the future generations.
Also, I truly respect and support the artisans of the Four Treasures of Study, which include Sumi (ink stick), paper, brushes and ink stones.
What is Kana calligraphy?
Kana calligraphy is one of Japanese traditional arts that dates back to the aristocratic culture in Heian period, which is approximately 1,200 years ago.
It is an art of poetry. However, the beauty of it is not only in the words but the selection of paper material and how the words are placed. Everything about its expression is by design. For instance, some parts of the words are faint for effect. The blank spaces are particularly laid out. And if you look very closely, you will notice that the lines come in different thickness, which adds magical flow to the poem.
