| A Mirror of Contradictions and Diversity Rike Woelke is a contemporary painter from Magdeburg, Germany. Her art is a mirror of the contradictions and diversity that emerge within her in a cinematic way. Rike does not paint the smooth surface, but rather the fractures, the layers, and the contradictory emotions. That is precisely where life and love become visible to her. Perfection is silent. It is only in the fragment, in the flaw, in the abundance of facets that a story begins to speak. Rike's painting does not crystallize in a perfect moment, but in the heart's flutter between contradictions. That is the moment when one pauses, feels unsettled"and suddenly recognizes something of oneself. This realization is a moment of self-acceptance and is filled with wonderful self-love. Her paintings deal with love, ambition, transience, vanity, encounters, and transcending boundaries. She shows the transience of things that seem fundamental today but may be a new reality tomorrow; how our own vanity deceives us; and that love is the most powerful force. Rike Woelke is an artist who enjoys painting on large-format canvases. She makes intensive use of the surface and the freedom it affords for both subject matter and form of expression. Her vibrantly colored paintings feature multi-layered visual elements, materials, and a wide variety of techniques. This fall, she will present her works on canvas in mixed media and acrylic in Paris. |
