| I am María Eugenia Figueroa (MEF.), an Argentine visual artist. For more than two decades, my professional path unfolded within multilateral international organizations and regional projects across Latin America, focusing on rural development, international cooperation, and the structural challenges linked to social and environmental issues. That experience evolved into a creative energy now expressed through visual language. My practice emerges from the intersection of lived experience, Latin American memory, and contemporary reflection. Each work weaves together color, matter, and thought as a form of symbolic inquiry. Through abstraction, I shape visual narratives that foster equity, celebrate territory, and embrace social and environmental responsibility. About my artwork UNION: Chromatic fragmentation unfolds as a metaphor for the multiple identities that coexist within a shared social fabric. Each element retains its singularity, yet only gains strength through interaction with others. The series reflects on equity, not as a slogan but as a structure. Color becomes system, tension, and balance. Painting ceases to be a mere surface and transforms into a relational field. Inspired by the palette of the Wiphala, this piece embodies the values that sustain community life: equity, safety, harmony, solidarity, and reciprocity. It is a tribute to our Indigenous peoples, guardians of memory and the land, whose strength and wisdom illuminate the present like a beacon of unity and dignity. |
