| Sabrina Marelli was born in Milan in 1970 and lives in Parma. Her passion for painting is rooted in her family history, inherited from her maternal uncle, a graduate of the School of Art at Milan's Castello Sforzesco. However, full awareness of her artistic calling only matured in adulthood, following a journey of technical and personal growth. She made her debut in 2022 under the pseudonym Les Fleurs de Bisous, initially focusing on dreamlike floral compositions. Her artistic inquiry soon evolved toward a more personal language aimed at exploring the viewer's emotional realm. Exhibitions and dialogues with fellow artists and critics fuel her constant experimentation. An interest in urbex sites marked a turning point: abandoned architecture, interiors suspended in time, and spaces steeped in memory became the focal point of her exploration into the evocative power of architecture. Daring perspectives, dizzying staircases, and backlit figures populate altered landscapes, where space becomes a metaphor for inner states and existential tensions. Her work subsequently focused on the female figure, portrayed free from stereotypes to reveal her inner complexity. Geometric backgrounds evoke the Bauhaus aesthetic, a key reference point for its formal rigor and symbolic value in acknowledging the role of women in art. Her most recent work develops a metaphorical language in which essential geometries and rigorous structures reflect on human behavior, processes of homogenization, and the loss of individual identity. The resulting scenes appear orderly at first glance but invite reflection on the dynamics of contemporary society. Sabrina Marelli's career is defined by a coherent and ever-evolving body of work capable of addressing diverse themes without compromising artistic complexity: an approach that eschews easy popularity and has earned her growing critical acclaim. |
