| I am a wire artist drawing by bending a single piece of wire. I depict the cycle of life by drawing human beings, animals, and plants on a single wire. I have created and exhibited numerous works, including Esora-goto (which translates to pie in the sky), the work set against the backdrop of 50 m² of open ceiling sky, and Seisei-Ruten (Life in the Flow), a three-dimensional work depicting the fluidity of life as I perceive it. I currently frequent Zuisenji Temple in Kyoto to create Shabutsu, wire Buddhist images of Taima Mandala, a practice that helps also deepen my philosophy as an artist.
On the other hand, after 11 years as an actor in the world-famous theatre company Ishinha, I am now also active as a dancer who places value on the dialogue with people, sound and space. The understanding of the body that I deepen through physical activity gives my wire art even more of a sense of life. |
